Mentioned twice in my FB news feed today and for good reason: =Royalty=
Here’s what their bio says:
Royalty are a London based outfit producing 80’s inspired analog synth music ranging from funk and boogie to modern beats.
Pretty spot on methinks.
Just heard the full version of this over on Chris Coco’s Melodica show.
Deep, deep vibes.
A glorious mix from @Mauricefulton on New York’s WNYU. Looks and sounds like it was recorded on actual cassette tape in 1997 too.
If you’re having trouble listening to it, try the source.
Was having a rummage through my 7”s at the weekend and digged this out. Used to play this to death down at BFF; had forgotten how ace it is. Enjoy.
Finally managed to hook my record player up to my laptop. First recording with the new set-up is Lee Oskar and his spooky funk laden track, Haunted House.
If you can’t get your hands on, or afford, the rare 12”promo copy, you can find the track nestled away on the Before The Rain LP.
One from the Best Foot Forward archives - a big fat fucking bassline, often mistaken by eager partiers for Mary Jane Girls’ almost as amazing “All Night Long”. But it’s those keys that elevates this above the MJGs for sure.
It’s monsoon season over here in sunny Sri Lanka, hence the above track title. Taken from the 1979 Feel No Fret LP, it’s ALL about the bassline with this AWB ditty - sampled by Gang Starr if memory serves correct?
